I'm retiring from making model train electronics for the hobby market (http://www.SPCoast.com/electronics) and have a small SMT fabrication line that needs a new home. The line is 6 years old and has seen moderate use. It all works well and is in great physical condition.

In practice, once you get past the minimal documentation, this machine is a solid performer, able (with electric feeders) to handle 0603 components easily, and 0402 with some care. With pneumatic feeders, it places 0805 and larger components with ease. The software fully supports pneumatic and electric feeders, bulk tube vibratory feeders and tray-based (I/C) grid feeding. The SMT550 has 4x heads with Juki nozzles paired with 4x up-looking cameras for fast mispick detection and component rotation, a high resolution/size camera for larger components and a down-looking camera used for fiducial detection and (manual) feeder alignment. The Left-in, Right-out conveyer system interfaces to in and out-feed tables and uses photo-detectors to pause the line when boards are backed up or not ready.

The SMT550 has an embedded PC (running a Chinese version of Windows XP) that is used to control the machine and process the fab jobs from a USB stick. The Win95 Windows .Net PnP app supplied by YXiing is usable and robust, without many of the OpenPnP features. It takes about 15-30 minutes to set up a job, and 2-5 minutes to place a small 10x10cm 4x or 6x panel. I'm used to seeing 2k to 4k pph placement rates, though the real test for me was that the (manual) stencil paste, placement speed, inspection and reflow oven throughput rate allowed for almost continuous 1-person operation.
