Agenda 2009 May30From SCVDCome hear a preview of the 2009 General Convention of The Episcopal Church, taking place in Anaheim in July. The General Convention of TEC is held every three years and our elected deputies will be presenting information on some of the more critical and interesting issues which will be discussed and voted upon in July. This presentation by our deputies is open to all who are interested. Brief summaries of the reports of various bodies of the Episcopal Church from The Report to the 75th General Convention (aka the Blue Book) have been prepared by our deputies and alternates and are available on the diocesan website at http://www.edecr.org/gc2009/gc2009docs/GC2009-ECRDeputiesBlueBookSummary.pdf. Our own Diocesan Convention is often presented with resolutions on issues which come out of the national convention so it would be especially helpful to have our own delegates and alternates be present for this presentation. The meeting will start with some local deanery business, including a presentation on the progress made in the planning of our newest deanery ministry, Capernaum Fellowship. This is a ministry serving former inmates and their families. We will also be sharing information about a very successful Employee Assistance Program that can easily be replicated in your own congregation (or in collaboration with another congregation) to serve those who have recently become unemployed.
